Learning and Laughing Together

Year 6

Welcome to Year 6!

The children have made an excellent start to the new school year and have begun their Year 6 journey with enthusiasm and determination. This was evident during our recent outdoor adventure trip to Kingswood in north Wales. Each and every single individual showed resilience and perseverance during activities such as caving, abseiling, rock climbing and the zip line. They really pushed themselves and showed great courage throughout the week long residential.

Our Autumn topic is ‘Land of Hope and Glory’ where we will explore WW2, with a particular focus on the Blitz, D-Day and the role that women played during the war. We shall delve deep into the sacrifices different people made during the war, from soldiers on the front line, to evacuees back home.

Pupils in both classes have the potential to make Year 6 their best year yet at Hempstalls!

Kingswood Colomendy-Year 6 Residential

Take a look at the photos from our most recent trip to Kingswood Colomendy, North Wales. Year 6 had an amazing time, albeit the weather was not on their side! Our children enjoyed rafting, giant ziplining, rock climbing, orienteering and many more exciting activities.

Year 6 Autumn Term Launch Day-WW2

We have been back in time to 1939 to experience life in World War 2. We did ration tasting, art, geography and drama!
